I am closing 2025 with a reflection on the past 15 years of Disfrutar el Mar and I am sharing here the speech I gave during the anniversary celebration, because there is something in it that is especially meaningful to me.
When I started this project, it was born from integrating my passion, my experience, and a personal conviction. It was a step aligned with the way I understand life and work.

Taking that step requires trusting what you believe in. You may have the theoretical foundation, but you never know with certainty what will happen when you put it into practice
I have always been motivated by challenges. I do not usually stop in front of obstacles. I prefer to try and learn along the way rather than stay with the doubt of not having tried.
I was fortunate to meet two women – Carmen y Laura Revuelta Gallo – who shared the same vision and committed to the project with full confidence. That was the beginning.

Fifteen years have passed and the project continues. The people have changed; some joined, others moved on. But each one has contributed something essential. DEM has been built through every person who has trusted and taken part.
If there is something I deeply value, it is that every person who is part of DEM, in any role — child, monitor, mother, father, collaborator — can feel accepted, welcomed, valued, respected, and truly seen.

For this to happen, it is necessary that we all look at one another with respect, appreciation, and acceptance. These may sound like simple or even familiar words, but in practice they require daily commitment. I am not speaking about an idealized idea. I am speaking about a reality built step by step, where every person matters.
I sincerely thank everyone who has built and continues to build this space. I am grateful for the courage to open up to the unknown, to accept what is different, and to move through the inner discomfort that appears when we step outside our comfort zone. Committing to a project like this requires trust. And that trust cannot be taken for granted. Thank you for your trust and your courage.

A space with its own identity has been created. A space that fosters connection, that invites laughter, enjoyment, and a sense of belonging. Thank you to all the monitors, the children, the families, the DEM Forward team, and every collaborator. Thank you as well to the families of the monitors, who support and care so they can be present. Thank you, Chus, for your constant support in so many ways.
